To think that a foreign country would come in and to have that kind of influence and that kind of actions being taken in, in British Columbia and in Canada, in my opinion that's extremely disturbing.
[00:09:51] Speaker A: Mister Rusted, let's now talk about the provincial election campaign. This is the last week of it. We have already seen a record number of voters showing up at the advanced polls. You promised yesterday a new hospital, a new children's hospital in Surrey. With all the promises that you've made, one of the biggest questions that always comes to mind is how much is it going to cost and where is the costed platform? So that's finally coming out today.
[00:10:17] Speaker C: Yeah. So the platform will come out today with the estimated costs in terms of the amount of additional spending and tax relief that we are doing for people in British Columbia. The challenge, of course, is we are basing it off of the NDP's budget that they brought in and clearly their budget isn't holding water. So we're doing the best we can to give an estimate as to how we can achieve what we are promising to do and the cost associated with it and how we'll get back to a balanced budget by the end of the second term.
[00:10:50] Speaker A: The other thing that you've, which has been in the news, especially over the long weekend, is your candidate from Surrey, South Brent Chapman. Some of the comments that he's made on social media in the past years, those have led to a lot of controversy. What would you like to say? Especially now with the new comments that came to for about him questioning mass shootings in the US and at the mosque in Quebec?
[00:11:14] Speaker C: Yeah, so, Mister Chapman, his comments. I found, quite frankly, those comments offensive and wrong. They don't reflect me, or they certainly don't reflect our conservative party. Mister Chapman has since released a statement with regards to those issues clarifying his perspective on them, on the tragedies that were those mass shootings. He's also, at this point, retained a lawyer, so it'd be inappropriate for me to have say a whole lot more. But what I will say is this. David Eby has come out and said that it is fine to be giving people who got welfare for them to be able to spend their entire check on buying things like crack cocaine. And I find those kind of statements extremely offensive. And it's no wonder we have such problem with crime and with drugs in our streets. If that's the philosophy of the premier.

And so having this put in place, I think will be a great addition. So that means that Surrey would end up having three hospitals now, the new hospital being built in Cloverdale, the addition to Surrey Memorial and then a children's hospital. It's what's needed in the community to be able to look after the people, not just for today, but for the growing city that Surrey is.
