[00:19:14] Speaker C: Politics is a game of perception. [00:19:44] Speaker B: Mister Eb, a very good morning to you. [00:19:47] Speaker D: Good morning to you. [00:19:48] Speaker B: So I've got Vasu as well in the studio with me and premier, how have the last 27 days been? Today is the last day of the campaign. [00:19:58] Speaker D: Well, it's a marathon. You know, we're working hard every single day to get the message out to British Columbians on a couple of things. One is that we know that they're struggling right now and they need support. And so we're making sure to support them with a middle class tax cut, an average of $1,000 per household, and supporting them with keeping those costs down around car insurance and BC hydro and childcare, building schools and hospitals in the province. And we just can't afford the expensive vision of the province that John Rustad and the conservatives are promoting, cutting, canceling projects, making life more expensive. [00:20:38] Speaker B: Mister EB, the drug users Liberation Front, they've started this court challenge, a charter challenge earlier this week. Can you confirm that should you form government again, that that is something that you're going to seriously look at and not carry on with the same policy that there was earlier on in place where groups like Dulf were being, were receiving funding. They were, you know, running these compassion clubs. What's your stance on that? Because some, a lot of the voters want to know what is going to be your stance on drug decriminalization, on the drug policy, should you form government again tomorrow? [00:21:11] Speaker D: Yeah, it's very straightforward. BJ, if you break the law, you go to jail. And that's the position before and that's the position now. If you break the law, you don't get government funding. The police get involved, you get arrested. And that's exactly what happened. We're not going back to decriminalization. We're making sure that people have access to treatment. And the thing that I worry about is John Rustad's proposal that he's going to stop enforcing firearms laws in our province. You know, a community like Surrey, where, where we know that gang violence can be a serious problem, that he's going to make it easier to get handguns and semi automatic rifles in our province is absolutely ridiculous and it puts people at risk. We're not decriminalizing drugs in community and we're not decriminalizing guns in community, which is John Rostat's plan. [00:21:53] Speaker B: Is there a possibility that should courts rule in favor of the Dulf challenge, then that could tie the government's hands in the future? Because we've seen that happen before. [00:22:02] Speaker D: No, there have been many challenges. The Control, drugs and substances act, and they've all failed. And this one will fail, too. [00:22:09] Speaker B: Premier, what would you like to say to the voters? What's your message to everybody who's listening right now? We know that more than a million people have already cast their votes in the six days of the advanced polling for those who get to vote. We're going to go to the polling stations tomorrow. What's the one message that you want them to remember from the BC NDP? [00:22:30] Speaker D: Well, Vijay, thanks for the opportunity to talk to your audience, because it's a lot of people south of the Fraser. I feel really good about where we are in Surrey and south of the Fraser. And the reason is quite straightforward. We've been showing up. I was the only candidate to show up in person at the Surrey board of Trade. John Rustad's candidates are in hiding. He's got a candidate so racist in South Surrey, he didn't even bring him to the Surrey rally yesterday. They've got another candidate in Langley that's in hiding because she pretended to be a medical doctor and she's not. They've got a bunch of candidates that are absolute wing nuts. They're out in left field. They're bananas. They have no capacity to do anything. And he's proposing to put them into cabinet with a platform that makes absolutely no sense. He's standing in the middle of the field that he doesn't own for a hospital that has no plan, no funding in his platform. He has no plan for Surrey. He's going to review the projects that are getting built, which will delay them and cancel them. He's going to hand people over to private insurers, which is going to double your car insurance. He's got a tax cut plan that only benefits penthouse owners in downtown Vancouver. It doesn't benefit multi generational families. John Rostat is going to make your life more expensive. And I think that's why we've gotten so much traction over the campaign. In Surrey, people are realizing that John Rostad is not on their side. He's on the side of the billionaires like Chip Wilson in downtown Vancouver, who are doing all they can to support him, because they know that he's going to cut taxes for the billionaires while all the rest of British Columbians pay for it. [00:23:57] Speaker B: Mister Eb, thank you so much for your time this morning. And I know you've got a busy morning and you must have a very hectic day today. Good luck for the final voting day tomorrow. [00:24:06] Speaker D: Yeah, thanks so much. I'm going to be seeing my amazing candidates who are law enforcement officers, actual nurses, real medical professionals and not fake doctors. We're going to have a great time today. [00:24:15] Speaker B: Thank you Mr. Eebi. Have a good day. [00:24:17] Speaker E: Okay BJ. [00:24:18] Speaker D: Okay, see you man. [00:24:18] Speaker B: Bye bye. David E. B. [00:46:26] Speaker E: Good morning to you as well. Thank you for having me on this morning. [00:46:29] Speaker B: Mister Rustad, 27 days gone out of a 28 day campaign. How have things been and what would you like to say to the voters? [00:46:37] Speaker E: It's been a very energetic campaign. I've been so pleased with the number of people that have involved the grassroots movement. We had a huge rally in Surrey last night with close to 2000 people. It was very, very encouraging and I think people are prepared for common sense change in British Columbia. [00:46:55] Speaker B: Mister Rustad, we've actually got an open line segment going on right now for the past almost 30, 40 minutes. And a lot of our callers are echoing the sentiment that you say that they're looking for a change, but they are also apprehensive about the promise of change, not living up to it. So for those who are skeptical about it, what would you like to say to them? [00:47:17] Speaker E: There's no question that Surrey has had a lot of promises from political parties for decades and it has always been treated as a second class city. Unfortunately, those promises have not been fulfilled. And that's one of the reasons why I said at the very beginning of this campaign, many, many months ago that Surrey will be the battleground that we are going to deliver for the people in Surrey. And I'm going to be held accountable to that. I'm going to make sure that I'm in Surrey frequently, that people are going to be able to come up and we'll be able to show the progress on all of our promises for Surrey on an ongoing basis. [00:47:51] Speaker B: Mister rusted, one of the callers during the segment that we've got going on, they specifically highlighted the issue about your platform and the platform that was only released this week when I, a lot of the people had already voted in the advance polls and that particular caller said that the reason why the platform was shared so late into the campaign is because the BC conservatives are trying to hide something. Is that the case, Mister Rostat? [00:48:16] Speaker E: Absolutely not. That's just once again, more misinformation and lies from the NDP. That's all they're doing in their entire campaign. We wanted to make sure that we could highlight all of the things that we're trying to do for British Columbia to bring about change, getting rid of Soji, you know, the commitments in terms of hospital doing, the commitments in terms of the expanding the candle line, I mean, the Skytrain, replacing the massive tunnel, all these things were important for us to be able to get out and talk about. And we, every day of the campaign we went out and talked about all these issues. The only thing that was left at the end was the actual budgeting component. And so if we had a release to the Costa platform right away, what that would have done is meant that we had to release all of our promises and all the things that we're doing right away. And we wouldn't have been able to have the time over the campaign to engage with people and to talk about the positive change that we want to bring for British Columbia. [00:49:09] Speaker B: Mister Rustad, your final pitch to the voters, people who are listening a lot of people have already voted, as we are hearing from our callers. But for those who are going to go out and vote tomorrow, what is the one message that you want them to remember from you, from the BC conservatives? [00:49:26] Speaker E: I think it's important to think about what has happened over the last seven years. Can anybody point to anything that's better? We've got problem with drugs, with crime, our healthcare systems and collapse what's going on in our schools, our economy. There's so many things that are problematic. As the Conservative Party of British Columbia, these are the things that we have proposed we're going to be tackling head on. We're going to bring about common sense change for British Columbia and make sure we put patients first when it comes to healthcare, make sure we put people first in our province. Deal with the tough issues that need to be dealt with, not with ideology, but just with common sense. So I'm asking people to have a look at what we're doing and help us bring about common sense change and help us make history in British Columbia. [00:50:11] Speaker B: Mister Rustad, good luck for tomorrow and we'll talk to you again. [00:50:16] Speaker E: Thank you very much and thanks for having me on. Take care.
